Q: What is a Travel Center?
A: They are the original trading posts that have been updated through the years, though we still sell similar merchandise.
Q: What types of positions do you have?
A: Customer Service/Sales, Custodial/Maintenance, Manager and Shift Supervisor in Training
Q: Does your company offer benefits?
A: Yes, please refer to the Jobs tab for more details.
Q: Is experience required?
A: No, we have a comprehensive on the job training (OJT) program.
Q: What are your hours of operation?
A: We are open 7:00-7:00 in the Winter and 7:00-8 :00 in the Summer except our Alamogordo store which is only open 8:30-5:00.
Q: What types of merchandise is sold in the stores?
A: We sell Native American artifacts and jewelry, Southwest souvenirs and fireworks.
Q: Do you provide a uniform?
A: In the store you are issued a Bowlin shirt. In the Dairy Queen you are issued a Bowlin shirt, hat, apron and we provide Shoes for Crews. We also provide long sleeve shirts for the colder months and to cover any tattoos.
Q: Do you allow piercings and tattoos?
A: Women are allowed to have one piercing per earlobe and men are not allowed to have any piercings on duty. Tattoos must be covered during duty hours.
Q: Do you offer a discount for employees?
A: Yes, a 25% discount is available for employees and immediate family for the store and restaurant. The discount is not available for petroleum and convenient store items.
Q: What are the living conditions like?
A: We have 2-3 bedroom single and double wide mobile homes. We also have RV graded plots with stub-outs for water and sewer with 50 amp electric poles.
Q: How much is the rent?
A: We charge $250 for a Single Wide, $300 for a Double Wide plus $20 for any pets. We also have a $500 deposit that is deducted from the paycheck over a few months. We pay for the standard utilities.
RV rent is free and includes water sewer, and electric (the I-40 stores also include propane).
Q: How many people work at the operations?
A: The number will vary based on the size of the operation; however, there will be between 4 and 22 employees at the locations.
Q: How many people live on site?
A: The number of employees varies as does the number of people living on property. We have eight mobile homes and four RV parking spots at our largest location. However, all may not be occupied at different times of the year.
Q: Do you allow pets?
A: Yes, we allow two domesticated pets in the mobile homes. For mobile home tenants, we charge $20 a month plus we require a $500 pet deposit, which will be deducted from the paycheck over a few month period. This does not apply to RVers.
Note: We do not allow Dobermans, Pit Bulls, or Rottweilers on our property.
Q: Do you hire employees with children?
A: Yes, if school age, the bus even comes to pick them up at the store.
Q: Is there Wi-Fi available?
A: Yes, but it has a very limited bandwidth.
Q: Is there access to cable/satellite?
A: Yes, both are available through local and national providers.
Q: Is there phone service?
A: Yes, most cell phone carriers can be used at our locations.
Q: What types of wildlife are around the stores?
A: You might see Bison, Antelope, Elk, Deer, Coyotes, Road Runners, Lizards, Snakes and of course the standard insects.

A: The distance varies from each location:

Butterfield Station – 20 miles
Bluewater Outpost – 7 miles
Continental Divide – 20 miles
